old friends, new relatives

My wife Kim and I just returned from hot and smoggy Southern California. Even before we landed, it just took one look at the brown and gray landscape below for us to agree that moving to the Puget Sound was one of the best moves we've ever made. However, we did indulge at In-N-Out Burger shortly after landing at Ontario Airport.

We made the pilgrimage because my son Christian and his wife Shannon begat us a new grandson. They make their home in Santee, east of San Diego. Kim's nephew Eric's wedding to his long-time fiancee Megan in Orange County was just a few days after baby Mason was born, so the timing couldn't have been better. Whe we told our friends Cathy and Mark that we were going to be in the neighborhood (they live in Yucaipa, east of San Bernardino, they offered to throw a party and put us up for a couple of nights. Cool!
